Piazza di Siena has succeeded, over the years, to place together the winning couple “sport and tradition”. It takes place every year in the wonderful gardens
of Villa Borghese.
But it has also something more: the charm of history and myth, because the oval of Villa Borghese is the sacred place of Italian horse riding.
This is the 77th edition of Piazza di Siena event.
Through the years the CSIO Rome has mantained his competitive image unchanged and has adopted various strategies of communication to assure the presence
of important Italian and foreign companies as sponsors and partners.
For these reasons Mass Media pay high attention to this event. It is broadcasted without encryption by RAI Television and every year registers a records
huge public participation: last edition data talk more than 50.000 visitors during the 4 days of competition (from Thursday to Sunday), not only on
the tribunes but in the Commercial and VIP Village as well.
In 2004 some important innovations have been made: behind the main arena, a new and enlarged field has been built to provide a warm up area for riders and
horses before the beginning of the competitions, giving a new shape to the area of the Museum of the Canonica. This renewed look is due to the construction
of the Globe Theatre on the old warm up ring. This new theater brings public afflux to Villa Borghese during the theatrical season.
The historic values of Piazza di Siena are represented by the show of the Mounted Carabinieri Display:
celebration of rite, memory, devotion, enthusiasm and sacrifice.
Following the tradition, during the closing ceremony of the event, 145 horses perform a fascinating evening show, with the fanfare to open the parade.
